A Brief History

In 2006, a handful of Holmes County residents had a common vision. They wanted to provide resources for youth in need — not only in third world countries, but within their local community as well. That November, Harvest Thrift Store was opened, with a mission statement to: “Provide quality merchandise at reasonable prices to support local projects and international missions, honoring God with compassion and integrity while building relationships with those we come in contact with.”

It wasn’t long before the store expanded to a second location in Wilmot. The space, located in a building at the intersection of routes 62 and 250, was generously donated to the cause. The stores are staffed by both volunteers as well as employees. Many volunteers come from Operation 6:12, a drug rehabilitation program, the Boy Scouts, and others, who are all paid by donation.
