Baltic Mill Winery

A brief history

In the mid-1800s, The Baltic Mill started milling flour. At one point, it was actually the largest flour mill in Ohio and used the railroad for shipping and receiving. However, in 1907 a fire devastated the original building and a new one was built the following year. The 1908 building still stands today, with massive timber posts and three-foot thick walls that you can admire during your visit.
The cornerstone of the mill is a Russel Steam Engine with a 5-foot-diameter flywheel. At one time, this piece of machinery powered all three floors (and the basement!) of the mill. It can still be seen, along with other milling equipment on the upper floors, by request.

The wines

Dan Garver, alongside his son, Matt, handcrafts all of Baltic Mill’s wines in the cellar of the building. Among their most popular varieties are sweet wines, however, they offer a spectrum of drier wines to please almost any palette. Tastings are offered by the glass and by the bottle for those looking to sample an array of wines.
